A level 1 was issued for the eastern Mediterranean Sea mainly for large hail.

SYNOPSIS

The northern half of Europe is dominated by low pressure while slight high pressure is present over the Mediterranean. In between is a strong pressure gradient and resulting wind field, with a frontal zone dragging over the line W France - NE Poland.
The cold airmass with showers and some thunder west of Ireland will come down to the south, heading for southwestern Europe where it arrives on Sunday/Monday.
Near Crete and southwestern Turkey some CAPE is present and on its east side deep layer shear and SREH (20 m/s and 150-200 mē/sē) will be in support of organized and maybe rotating storms with an enhanced chance of large hail. A waterspout is also not ruled out. On the other hand, advection of warm mid level air from the south could cap this area more than to the west. The best CAPE-shear overlap is over sea.
