SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

Between Siberian and Atlantic large high pressure systems, deep polar low/trough will continue advecting arctic airmass southwards towards the Balkans peninsula. Stable conditions will persist across much of Europe, except the eastern Mediterranean where lifting ahead of short-wave trough/surface front will trigger some convection.

Weak low surface pressure area/surface front will be the focus for some convective activity during the afternoon/evening hours across southern Balkans and eastern Mediterranean sea. The lack of instability and weak wind field surpress any organized deep convection while a heavy rain event is still possible overnight along the western Turkish coast when trough moves more to the east.

As polar maritime airmass with steepening lapse rates behind the deep low over NE-ern Europe overspreads North sea and central Europe, numerous mostly snow showers will result during the day. Some of them may be weakly electrified and there, low lightning probability area has been placed.
