A level 1 was issued for Albania and W-Greece mainly for severe wind gusts and excessive rain and to a lesser extent for tornadoes.

A level 1 was issued for the Strait of Gibraltar, SW-Spain and NW-Morocco mainly for excessive rainfall.

SYNOPSIS

The impressive branch of the polar vortex affects most parts of N/W-Europe with the arctic front running from the Iberian Peninsula northeastwards. Air mass north is cold/stable and warm/unstable over the Mediterranean.

DISCUSSION

... Albania and west Greece ...

This level 1 continues to highlight the risk from yesterday's level further north. Strong shear and moderate CAPE allow organized storms to affect the highlighted area. Severe wind gusts and tornadoes are well possible. Excessive rain is another risk mainly in the northern part of the level area. The risk diminishes during the night.

... Strait of Gibraltar and NW-Morocco ...

Warm, moist and unstable warm sector of another depression affects the area SW of Spain and south of Portugal mainly after sunset. Isolated flash flooding is well possible with ongoing thunderstorms.

... Bay of Biscay and W-France ...

A strengthening depression over NW-France pushes another surge of arctic air towards the south. Enhanced instability offshore over the Bay causes scattered showers/thunderstorms with some isolated storms over W-France possible due to some onshore moisture advection.
