SYNOPSIS / DISCUSSION

A quasi-stationary large-scale upper trough persists over E Europe, allowing peripheral vort maxima to move into the western Mediterranean Sea as well as across the central Balkans on Monday. The former feature is simulated to be accompanied by scattered convection. Shear and instability are expected to be too weak to support organized/severe convection, however.
