SYNOPSIS

Deep upper ridge exists over the central portions of Europe, with an adjacent trough extending into the SE Mediterranean, and another one lifting from the NW Maghreb states across the SW Mediterranean on Saturday. Very marginal instability is simulated to develop ahead of the SW Mediterranean trough, and isolated lightning may occur.

There appears to exist some threat for waterspouts over the Aegean given strong LL lapse rates and weak deep-layer flow and weak shear. Storms may fail to become electrified, though, given that storm top temperatures barely drop beneath -10 to -20C.
