SYNOPSIS

An elongated ridge of surface high pressure around 50°N still dominates the map. In the upper air a large trough is centered over the Balkan, with surface low pressure over the Mediterranean Sea. The jetstream circles from Scandinavia-France-Tunesia around the upper low, not interfering with unstable airmass. Instability over the Mediterranean is low, and activation is expected around a low level vorticity center east of Sardegna, another east of Sicily, and mid level vorticity (or PV) advection over the northern Adriatic Sea area moving in the late night to Sardegna.
Besides slow movement of cells favorable to locally significant precipitation sums, no severe weather should occur, though an isolated waterspout is not ruled out.
