SYNOPSIS

An outbreak of maritime showers within an eastward moving Atlantic trough is underway. Although MLCAPE values can reach over 250 J/kg, only isolated thunder is expected to occur. In coastal convergence zones, near shortwave troughs and in the Mediterranean Sea the electrical activity may be somewhat higher. Strong but likely not severe gusts may occur at the coast of Portugal, and SW France when a small low (in GFS) makes landfall during the night. Small hail and snowfall are likely.
