Valid: Mon 30 Jun 2008 06:00 to Tue 01 Jul 2008 06:00 UTC
Issued: Sun 29 Jun 2008 22:15
Forecaster: GROENEMEIJER

SYNOPSIS

Within a weak westerly flow over much of Europe a trough over southern Scandinavia moves eastward during the forecast period. Rather widespread convection over much of central, northern and eastern Scandinavia, as well as the Baltic States, will probably result. A longwave ridge is expected to build over the western European continent, as an upstream trough amplifies over the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

DISCUSSION

southern Alps...

A large MCS that has moved eastward during the night from Sunday to Monday will probably weaken during the morning hours, before new diurnally-forced convection initiates. This system may be causing flooding problems however, before dissipating. For wind shear gradually weakens during the day, new convection has very slim chances of becoming severe. Some small hail is possible though.
