SYNOPSIS

Large omega present over Europe, with flanking troughs over western Europe and eastern Europe. To the south of the high, a upper trough migrates eastward over north Mediterranean. A strong upper jet is present to the south-west from southern Bay of Biscay to Tunisia. At lower levels, rather cool and stable air masses are present over most of Europe. In the range of the high, air masses are warmer but step lapse rates have disappeared over most places. Thunderstorms may develop but given weak vertical wind shear and forcing, chances for severe thunderstorms are expected to be quite low.
