SYNOPSIS

Highly amplified streamline pattern is present and continues during the forecast period as major ridging builds northward over the N-Atlantic. A closed upper-level low, west of Spain regains strength as a strong jet curves southward upstream of the low. Another feature of interest is an upper-level trough over SE Europe which supports enhanced and diurnal driven convective activity.
Expected magnitude of instability release, which is offset of strongest shear will preclude thunderstorm organisation. There exists a risk for hail over NW-Greece ( roughly west / southwest of Salonika ) and an isolated stronger pulsating thunderstorm could produce large hail, but confidence and anticipated coverage of hail reports inhibit a level-1.

A few thunderstorms could also develop over / south of S-Italy but both shear and instability are marginal at best.
