SYNOPSIS

A longwave trough is located over north-central Europe. On its western flank a jet streak moves southward over the North Sea. A shortwave trough from Poland to central italy. A ridge over Iberia moves eastwards while relaxing. In the lower troposphere, cold air over the North Sea and western Scandinavia accelerates southward into central Europe.

DISCUSSION

NW Italy, Austria, Hungary, Balkans, N Greece, NW Turkey

As the aformentioned shortwave trough over Italy moves eastward, upward motion gradually travels eastward over the indicated area. Showers and thunderstorms with small hail and a few strong gusts are expected. Low CAPE and moderate shear and forcing suggest that the chance of severe storms will be small.

Portugal and NW Spain...

In the wake of a weak cold front, slightly unstable air moves into western parts of the Iberian peninsula. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected within this air-mass.
