SYNOPSIS

A quiet forecast period is forecast. A high centered over northern British Isles dominates the European weather. Cold air advection is present over all of eastern Europe. Dry low-level air mass is present in the south-eastern regions, where also steep lapse rates are present, but instability is limited and thunderstorms are not expected to be likely. Over the Mediterranan and south-western Europe, mid-level warm air advection is forecast to lead to quite strong inversions that will supress deep convection over most places. Best potential seems to exist west of the Iberian Peninsula and the Atlas mountains, where suficient low-level moisture is expected. However, only weak convection is forecast to develop due to weak forcing, rather weak instability, and also weak vertical wind shear.
