SYNOPSIS/DISCUSSION

Large high covers most of Europe, and dry cold/dry air mass has spread across the Mediterranean. Thunderstorms are not likely although steep lapse rates are prsent over south-west and south-east Mediterranean. Best chances for thunder exist to the east of Crete, where boundary-layer moisture is better and some low-level convergence is forecast in the range of a trough axis. However, weak instability will likely limit severe potential, although deep layer vertical wind shear is moderate at the southern flank of the upper trough.
