SYNOPSIS

Cold low with steep mid-level lapse rates is located over Portugal and moves westward.
An anticyclonically-curved jet stretches from the northern Atlantic ocean over the North Sea into Europe. A shortwave trough moves from Iceland to southern Sweden during the forecast period. A large mass of cold air is located over northwestern Russia and eastern Finland.

DISCUSSION

Likely places where deep enough instability is forecast to allow for storms is under the cold air-masses of the low and troughs over northwestern Russia, Portugal and Turkey and across the coastal areas of the central Mediterranean. Instability is expected to remian quite marginal as well as a vertical wind shear. Therefore severe storms are unlikely.
