SYNOPSIS

Monday at 06:00 UTC a north-south oriented mid-level trough filled with cold air has its axis over the Irish Sea. Preceded by a cold front, it moves eastward during the forecast period.

DISCUSSION

Great Britain, western continental Europe...

In the range of the trough, a pool of cold polar air is present.

An zone with scattered convective storms, some thundery, is expected to move from west to east through the indicated area during the day.

Rather strong low-level winds will be responsible for moderately strong low-level shear ahead of the mid-level trough. Given that only limited instability is forecast and the strongest deep-layer shear will not be juxtaposed with the most active convective activity, chances of severe weather should be relatively low. A few strong gusts are, however, possible.

Elsewhere, thunderstorms are quite unlikely.
